Scalenut Alternatives — The Tools That Advertise Prompt Tracking Charge the Most for It

Scalenut's pricing page now leads with AI visibility, and its Starter plan tracks 10 prompts for a $59 monthly list price — which works out to $5.90 per prompt, the highest rate in this comparison (checked 25 August 2026).
What Is Scalenut Selling in 2026, and What Does a Tracked Prompt Cost?
Scalenut's pricing page now leads with AI visibility, and its Starter plan tracks 10 prompts for a $59 monthly list price — which works out to $5.90 per prompt, the highest rate in this comparison (checked 25 August 2026).
- Its banner offer reads "Claim 60% off and double your limits on our Starter, Plus, and Professional plans" — both halves stated on the page, giving discounted annual rates of $24, $36 and $80 against list rates of $59, $89 and $199.
- The doubling covers articles, clusters, audit pages and images — Starter goes from 5 articles to 10 and 25 images to 50. Audit coverage is not part of Starter at all: it starts at Plus, where it doubles from 200 webpages to 400. The tracked-prompt allowance is not doubled — the compare table lists 10, 25 and 100 prompts in both views.
- Prompt tracking covers ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews at every tier, with Perplexity listed only at the $199 Professional tier, and the refresh rate listed as weekly across all three.
- Auto-publishing to WordPress and Shopify is listed from the Plus tier. The page offers a 7-day free trial across plans.
That $5.90 is the number worth carrying into any comparison, because the same line item on other vendors' pages costs as little as $0.60. The wider budget market this sits in is mapped in our guide to cheap SEO tools.
Why It Matters That the Prompt-Tracking Label Has Converged
Five of the tools here — Frase, NeuronWriter, Clearscope, Surfer and Scalenut — now list a countable tracked-prompt allowance on their pricing pages. The label reads almost identically everywhere. The rate behind it does not.
Divide each vendor's list price by the prompts that tier tracks and the range runs from $0.60 to $5.90 per prompt per month — close to ten times, for a feature that looks like one line on every page.
Across these five vendors the pattern is consistent: the lowest per-prompt rates sit inside broader content subscriptions where tracking is one row among many, and the highest sit on the tiers that foreground tracking in their marketing.

Sort candidates by what a tracked prompt costs at monthly list price, then check what else the money buys.
If Prompt Tracking Is the Job
At monthly list prices, of the plans compared here:
- Frase's upper tiers are the cheapest prompts anywhere in this set — its plan table lists 50 prompts on the $49 Starter, 200 on the $129 Professional and 500 on the $299 Scale, which works out to $0.98, $0.65 and $0.60 per prompt.
- NeuronWriter's AI Tracker add-on sits just above them and is the cheapest way to buy prompts by the block: its pricing data lists tiers of 10, 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500 prompts at $9, $22, $43, $83, $199 and $389 a month — $0.90 down to $0.78 each. It attaches to a base plan rather than standing alone, so budget both.
- Then the dedicated tracking tiers: Clearscope Business at $1.33 ($399 for 300 prompts), Surfer's standalone AI Search Analytics plan at $1.85 ($185 for 100 monthly, $158 billed yearly), Scalenut Professional at $1.99 ($199 for 100).
- The most expensive prompts are on the tiers that foreground the feature: NeuronWriter Bronze at $4.60 ($23 for 5), Surfer Standard at $4.76 ($119 for 25), Scalenut Starter at $5.90.
If You Want Content and Tracking Together
Scalenut Plus at $89 pairs 30 articles with 25 prompts and auto-publishing. Frase's $49 Starter pairs 10 articles and 50 audit pages with those 50 prompts, inside an approval-gated publish-and-repair loop — the shape of that loop is covered in our frase alternatives comparison. Clearscope's Essentials at $129 pairs 50 prompts with 50 pages and 20 drafts, and its pricing page does not describe an auto-publish loop.
If Volume Is the Job and Tracking Is Incidental
Per-article and credit tools price content far below any of these: Byword from $99/month (its page metadata lists 25 articles at that tier), Autoblogging.ai from $19 on a credit meter, RightBlogger at $59 with unlimited AI words on one site. The comparisons live in our byword ai alternatives comparison and our rightblogger alternatives comparison.
None of the three prices tracked prompts the way the five above do. Autoblogging.ai comes closest: its pricing table includes 5 free AI-visibility keywords a month at the $19 Starter tier, rising to 200 at the top, then charges 5 credits per keyword beyond that. A metered keyword is a different line item from a tracked-prompt allowance, so we have left it out of the per-prompt column rather than divide across units.
Where We Are Not an Alternative
We do not generate articles, publish them, or track prompts in any AI engine, so nothing on our side replaces Scalenut. Our SEO agent runs a bounded crawl of discoverable same-origin static HTML, and its page states plainly that it "does not edit a site, create a pull request, deploy, save a project run, or prove search-engine traffic impact." It answers whether what you already published holds together as a technical artifact — a different question from whether it gets cited.
Common Misreadings When Comparing These Tools
- Assuming a doubled-limits promotion doubles everything. Scalenut's offer states 60% off with doubled limits, and the doubling is real — Starter's articles go 5 to 10, so unit cost per article drops from $11.80 to $2.40, a factor of 4.9 rather than the 2.5 the price alone suggests. The prompt allowance is the exception: it stays at 10, so the promotional per-prompt rate is $2.40, not half of that.
- Comparing prompt counts without dividing. Scalenut Professional's 100 prompts at $199 and Clearscope Business's 300 at $399 look close on the sticker and sit 1.5x apart per prompt. Frase Scale's 500 at $299 is a different order of magnitude again.
- Reading a tier name as an entry price. Surfer's entry plan is Discovery at $59/month ($49 billed yearly), and its pages list no prompt tracking on that tier — the $119 Standard ($99 yearly) is simply the cheapest Surfer plan that tracks prompts at all. Frase Scale is $299 monthly and $239 billed yearly; quoting the yearly figure beside other vendors' monthly ones understates it by 20%.
- Assuming the tracked models and refresh rates match. Scalenut lists ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews at every tier with Perplexity at $199 and weekly refresh throughout; Surfer's compare table lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini, refreshing weekly on Standard and daily above it; Clearscope's page describes ChatGPT and Gemini; Frase lists ChatGPT and Google AI at Starter, adding Perplexity at Professional and Claude and Gemini at Scale.

How to Evaluate a Scalenut Alternative
Three questions, in order:
- What does a tracked prompt cost at monthly list price? Divide, then compare. The answer reorders the shortlist, and a promotional rate is the wrong basis for a renewal estimate.
- How many prompts do you actually need tracked? Ten covers a brand and a couple of competitors. If your number is a hundred or more, the tiers that advertise tracking loudest are the most expensive way to get there.
- Which models, and how often? Coverage and refresh cadence differ by tier at every vendor here, and both change what the dashboard number means.
If prompt tracking is not actually why you are switching, the content-volume column prices far lower — none of the plans compared here is the cheapest way to buy articles.
How to Run a Two-Week Trial Step by Step
- Start the trials in parallel — Scalenut lists 7 days, Frase 7 days without a card (capped at 5 articles, 50 audit pages and 25 prompts), Clearscope 14 days, NeuronWriter 7 days on Gold-tier terms with a 30-day first-purchase refund.
- Track the same prompt list in each, so you are comparing how each tool represents a citation you can independently confirm rather than comparing dashboards.
- Record the refresh cadence you would actually act on. If you would review changes weekly, a daily-refresh tier is capacity you are paying for and not using.
- Price twelve months at monthly list rates for every candidate before the trial ends, then decide whether a discounted year changes the answer.
- Check the state of the pages the tracking will be measuring. Run our SEO agent over the site — it needs a verified sign-in and a few product profile fields, then reports on metadata, heading structure and JSON-LD conditions for pages already live. The Search Console side of diagnosis is covered in the pillar on reading your own Search Console data.
Common Questions About Scalenut Alternatives
What is the cheapest Scalenut alternative?
For prompt tracking, Frase: 50 prompts on its $49 Starter works out at $0.98 each, and its higher tiers reach the lowest rate in this comparison.
For the lowest entry outlay, NeuronWriter Bronze at $23 carries 5 monitored questions, with add-on blocks priced below a dollar a prompt. For content volume rather than tracking, Autoblogging.ai starts at $19 on a credit meter.
Is Scalenut's 60% discount worth taking?
It is a real discount with real doubled limits, both stated on the page, and on articles the arithmetic is better than the headline — unit cost falls to about a fifth of list. Two caveats: the prompt allowance is not part of the doubling, and at renewal without the offer the article rate multiplies back by that same factor. Budget the renewal at list.
Which alternative tracks the most AI models?
Frase reaches ChatGPT, Google AI, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini at its $299 Scale tier; Surfer's compare table lists five engines including Google AI Mode; Scalenut adds Perplexity at $199; Clearscope's page describes ChatGPT and Gemini. Match the list against where your buyers ask, not against its length.
Does Scalenut still do content writing?
Yes — its tiers list article creation and optimization at 5, 30 and 75 a month at list, doubled under the promotion, alongside the prompt tracking. The pricing page simply leads with GEO now.
Is there a free Scalenut alternative?
Trials are common across this set, and Frase bundles a $0 FraseCMS hosting tier with its plans, but none of the tracking tools here lists a permanently free plan for the tracking product itself.
Why do per-prompt costs vary so much?
Because tracking is bundled differently everywhere — as an entry-tier headline, as one row in a platform subscription, or as an add-on. The label standardized faster than the pricing did, which is why dividing is worth the minute it takes.
Do I need any of this if my pages are not being cited at all?
A tracker reports whether you were cited; diagnosing why is a separate job. If the markup on those pages is not in the state you intended, that is cheaper to check first, and that is the job our agent does.

Take Action
Before you buy a year of prompt tracking, check the state of what it will be measuring. Run our SEO agent over your site — Google sign-in requests identity only, and after a few product profile fields the report covers what is already published: metadata, heading structure, and JSON-LD conditions. A tracker tells you whether you were cited. This tells you whether the markup on those pages is in the condition you intended.
